Jack and stone

Last weekend, Wendy came home rushing with pleading eyes and asked me to buy her this:

I could not suppress my smile! All memories of my jackstone days came back! I told Wendy, “Naku Wendy, expert ako dyan.” He! He!

Good thing is that jackstones are not hard to buy [no need for catalog printing cards]. We just went to the nearest National Bookstore and bought two sets [cheap lang kasi]. Minsan kahit sa palengke meron. The trickypart is just looking for a ball that is smooth.

For the record, I tried to play again and went “dead” [in the set of one to ten] just once! Not bad!

Cory Aquino watch

The first time I saw this advertisement, I fell in love with it.

Not with Kris Aquino ha, but the Philip Stein Cory Aquino commemorative watch. Isn’t it nice? I love the design of the face of the watch, plus the color! Yun nga lang, hanggang tingin lang ako, because the buying this watch must be like buying life insurance policy already! I don’t even dare to know how much this watch would cost!

Still, it doesn’t hurt to  ogle [and dream] diba?

Wake me up!

Wendy has a school project for Filipino wherein she and her classmates have to write a diary for the whole month of February. I asked her if I can read her entries, and she said yes. I was amused by her diary entries because if ALL started like this:

“Gumising ako tapos…”

Funny because I never heard of someone starting a diary that way. I mean, it happens every day diba, so why write it in your diary?

But then, come to think of it, isn’t waking up the prerequisite of living? Obviously, if you don’t wake up, you literally cease to live! And if you cease to live, you won’t be even writing in your diary! He! he!

It made me think that every day we wake up is indeed a blessing. Yes, waking day after day means we get older [and need face moisturizers or antiaging pills], but at least we are given another day to live!

So for every day that you wake up, don’t forget to say a little prayer of thanks!

Energy savers

According to recent news, Visayas and Mindanao [and, as I have heard, some parts of Luzon] have been experiencing rotating brownouts in the last few days.

Now, this is a major issue, an issue more important than finding a blackhead remover. And we need to do our part, no matter how small, to save energy.

Below are some tips on saving energy:

1. Turn off your television, video, hifi, playstation, and other entertainment devices when they are not being used.

23. In the summer use ceiling fans on a fast setting instead of air conditioning to keep cool. In the winter, running the fans slowly will push warm air collected at ceiling height down to where you want it. (If the slowest setting on your fan is too strong, reverse the direction of the fan in the winter so that the accumulated warm air is blown up against the ceiling and bounces more gently down around the walls and into the living space.

Terrified

I was able to catch the replays of Hollywood week of American Idol this weekend on Star World. I must say that I didn’t remember much of the performances, except for the guy who sang the Paula Abdul song [I forgot the title] and this one, which is my favorite. I rarely search for a performance on YouTube. But this one so stuck into my head that I knew I had to search for it.

This is Didi Benami singing “Terrified,” which was written by Jason Reeves and Kara DioGuardi, one of the judges.

I loved the way she sang it! Not to mention that I find her pretty [no adult acne]!

Wonder  how far she will go? [They say she made it to the top 12, but I’m not so sure about the validity if these reports.]

This is my favorite Biblical verse on love…we love because we love, no quesions asked, no reasons needed [unlike that we need reasons for a disease or reasons for hair loss]. Love is the core of our being. Love is the reason we live.

Ellen on AI

I caught a glimpse of American Idol Wednesday and saw Ellen judge for the first time.

I am not used to critiquing these things, but I must say that she is a breath of fresh air for the show! Yes, she might not know much about the technical aspects of singing, but it’s not like American Idol makes hydrolyze reviews! She might know a thing or two about music. And her humorous lines are also very much welcome to me! i remember her telling one contestant not to look like he’s frightening the audience, looking at them menacingly! Funny! For me, it’s nice that she gets to be a judge.

I’ll try to watch the next episodes to see if she keeps up with this, which I hope she does.

Hot Air Balloon Festival

We were there last year.

Although I won’t be coming this year, I’m writing a short reminder for any one who wants to attend the 15th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Festival, held yearly at Clark, Pampanga.

It’s nice to see balloons of different colors and different desings going up the air! And even though there will be fumes from the balloons, I doubt that you’ll be needing a mesothelioma lawyer, after all, it is all over soon. Before you know it, the hot air balloons are all up in the sky!

Mondays and Santino

It’s another Monday. Frankly, I’m feeling lazy to work, but what can I do? My only thought is that another weekend is coming!

Another good thing is that, in the final episode of May Bukas Pa, Santino lived on the see another day [we need anti aging products here please!]! I remember my officemates and I talking about the final episode last Friday and asking ourselves whether Santino would die or live.

I swear, I have never watched a single episode of the series…but last Friday, I was crying buckets of tears! My sister told me, “Ano ba yan ate! Over! Di ka naman nanonood nyan! Bakit affected ka?” Well, I don’t watch, but I know Santino, and add those artists in white crying, praying, and singing the them song, sino ba naman ang di maiiyak?!

Good thing is that it was a happy ending, enough get this Monday off to a good start.

Yay! Santino lives!

Remembering the days

Well, imagine my smile when I saw this at Cubao expo yesterday:

I had a fun time dialing [kunwari-kunwarian lang, of course] and remembering the good old days. I let Wendy try it also because she hadn’t had the chance to use this kind of a phone. Di-pindot na agad ang naabutan nya. She actually said that it was fun using this phone!

It’s nice to reminisce that before there ps3 games or high-tech cell phones, or i-pods, there were these stuff. It’s nice to remember the good old days!
