I just got back from Makati. I hitched with a friend going there so I had to commute going home. My friend told me to just ride the colorum [I don’t know if I spelled that right], but I insisted on riding a bus. It has been ages since I rode a public bus…and when I rode one today, it was something I think I will never forget.
It was like being in a race, only that you were riding with around 30 more people. We were going so fast, and to think we were still in EDSA! The driver must have imagined he was in a race track! You know what I did? I just closed my eyes the WHOLE duration of the trip! I really couldn’t bear to look outside. And even though I had my eyes closed, I still felt the bus swerving from left to right then to the right then to the left…it was never-ending! I could hear the cattle supplies of another passenger swerve too as the bus moved and my heart pounded so hard! I was so relieved when the trip was over. I can’t believe that the trip lasted just under 10 minutes…it seemed like hours!
There have so many incidents of accidents involving buses, and it looks like these bus drivers are not bothered at all. Seems like they do not learn from others’ mistakes. And when accidents do happen, they always say it wasn’t their fault. I hope they realize that they are driving huge vehicles and that driving too recklessly endangers their and their passengers’ lives, not to mention the other people with them on the road.
I’m not riding a bus again, not for a long time maybe. It’s not good for my heart. And I certainly don’t want to die that way.
It’s been a long time since I rode a public bus too. But wow! Makati to Paranaque in just 10 minutes?! Parang ang bilis nun ah!
Posted by Rico at May 9, 2009, 6:53 ami’ve never rode a bus in ages. i always take a cab instead. but there are always these drivers who seems to be in a hurry. grabe super kapit talaga ako pag humaharurot sila hindi ko naman sinabing magmadali sila.
Wala silang sinasanto. At kung makabusina… AY BAD TRIP NA!!!
feeling nila hari sila ng daan ‘no? i had a little accident dati sa bus pauwi ng paranaque (din). sa sobrang bilis ng takbo, bumangga yung bus na sinasakyan ko sa another bus at ang resulta? may big bukol ako sa noo! e the next day, report na ako dapat sa first job ko. hindi na ko nagreport dun sa company. feeling ko bad start
ingat, kg!

When I was commuting from home in college, the bus ride takes about an hour, but i love how the drivers here take things so easily, we have nice roads here in gensan, and some road accidents don’t really frequent us, there are just some drivers though that think they own the tracks…how irresponsible of them…
