Can’t beat the heat!

The past few days have been very hot! Super. A different H-O-T. Yun bang parang sumisingaw galing sa lupa (and I wonder if it’s possible to get mesothelioma this way). Even the nights are hot.

I don’t know, but this [plus maybe the fact that school is starting next week] prompted Wendy to declare, “When reach college, I will go to La Salle, kasi the classrooms have aircon!”

LP: Nang matapos

Nang matapos…

Sa bawat araw, sa bawat pagsikat ng araw ay siya ring paglubog nito. Sa iba, ito ang katapusan ng kanilang araw, pero para sa akin ay hindi, ito ay isa lamang pagpapatuloy ng araw.

Ang litratong lahok ko sa linggong ito ay hindi lang sumasagisag ng katapusan ng araw, kung hindi pati ang huling araw namin sa Cebu noong nagbakasyon kami doon. Sa huling araw namin na ito doon ay biniyayaan kami ng napakagandang paglubog ng araw, tipong sinasabi na “Salamat. Balik kayo dito sa Cebu.”

Heart attack

My friend-officemate came to me yesterday morning as if having a heart attack that I thought maybe she needed some Medicare supplements. The reason for this life-threatening attack?

The presidentiables for our 2010 elections

After seeing the news in the Philippine Star, my friend kept saying, “Si Chiz? Chiz Escudero? Tatakbo?” She had this puzzled look in her face and I could feel her heart palpitating because of the stress brought about by the news. And I agree with the reaction, I mean, what has he done besides talk? And this Gilbert Teodoro? Who is he?

Keeping this puzzlement (and irritation) aside, the big issue here is what qualities should a candidate for presidency have. And having had thought this over, WHO would be qualified? Being president is no easy task, as we all know. So we need someone who has the right “tools.”

With the cutrent roster, is there someone worth our vote? Oh, don’t you wish we also had a Barack Obama?

Missing an angel

Wendy has been sad for the past few days because her cousin Cherub, who stayed with us for 1 month, went home last Monday. Wendy rarely sheds a tear, but she cried a lot when Chreub left. She said she got used to having a “sister.” And now, being alone left her sad. She even isn’t in a mood to play with her friends anymore!

These two girls are very close; their story goes way back when they were babies to when they were kids (and needed the best diet pills on the market, I tell  you) to now, when they are already big girls. And that is why, although it has been a week since her cousin left, Wendy says she still feels sad

I just hope Wendy gets out of her “depression” soon.

Near-death experience

I just got back from Makati. I hitched with a friend going there so I had to commute going home. My friend told me to just ride the colorum [I don’t know if I spelled that right], but I insisted on riding a bus. It has been ages since I rode a public bus…and when I rode one today, it was something I think I will never forget.

There have so many incidents of accidents involving buses, and it looks like these bus drivers are not bothered at all. Seems like they do not learn from others’  mistakes. And when accidents do happen, they always say it wasn’t their fault. I hope they realize that they are driving huge vehicles and that driving too recklessly endangers their and their passengers’ lives, not to mention the other people with them on the road.

I’m not riding a bus again, not for a long time maybe. It’s not good for my heart. And I certainly don’t want to die that way.

Shocker!

I got one hell of a shocker this week. No, not the life-altering one [well, maybe]…

I guess I just didn’t expect this man,

 who I honestly find sexy because of his unique disposition and attitude [and I mean the character], to be in this picture

Let me tell you that I have seen the movie Stuart Little a gazilion times because Wendy loved it at one point. But that was before the pre-House era, and I’ve never given Stuart’s father a second look. [Stuart is a rat, by the way.]

A few days ago, I was watching Disney channel when the trailer for the movie Stuart Little was shown. As I stared at Stuart’s family one by one, I got the shocker of all shockers! I recognized the father at once, now that I’m a House fan! Mr. Little, Stuart’s father, is the cranky Dr. House! What?!? If you watch Dr. House and have watched Stuart Little, you’ll know what I mean. Shocking is the perfect word. And I guess it’s more than the obvious aging of the face and the fact that maybe he now needs Colonix…it’s the disimilarities in the roles! Gosh!

My mouth was left hanging for a few seconds…and I felt the admiration ebbing…just a little… 

Growing up too fast

Why do little girls want to grow up fast? Wendy keeps on pestering me if she can put nail polish on and use lipstick alerady! The next thing you knew, she’ll be asking me about the latest cell phone model or if she can undergo microdermabrasion! Hell no! I wanther to remain a kid forquite some time, coz she’s going to be an adult for a long time!

I remember seeing this picture in a magazine for kids:

I thought…why do they make these young girls look older than they actually are! I mean the dress the girl is wearing is more apt for a young adult! Tsk! Tsk!

Let’s not let our kids grow too fast. They pass by childhood only once. So don’t let your daughter wear heels when she’s still suposed to be wearing frills!
