I used to like watching the news. Every 6:30 p.m., it was TV Patrol time in our house. It was my way of catching up with what was happening around me, out there…what was happening in the “real world.”
But that was before. These past few weeks [months more likely], I rarely got to catch the news…by choice.
Why? Simple: I get stressed watching the news. As in stressed! All I see are bad, dissapointing events, mostly falling under the three Cs: crime, corruption, crisis! And these are enough to set my mind on the stress mode. The news hour usally starts with a government news stating which official is caught up in a corruption scandal. Then come the brutal and unpleasant crimes happening even in the smallest area: holdups here, murders there, rapes in the next town [makes me wanna get all those self defense products]. And then, nowadays, next come the never-ending news on the financial crisis: thousands of lay-offs, companies closing, the economy slowing down [although these again remind me that I am lucky to still have a job]. Even the showbiz news are full of scandals! Haaayy, I’m starting to hate these news shows…yes, this reality TV: too real for me, too negative, too depressing. I feel like the 3 strands of white hair I found yesterday were a product of watching the news. He! He!
I’m just wondering, where have all the GOOD news gone?

Yup! I agree KG, I too hate the news but at least we’re aware of what’s really going on right now the sad thing is… it’s for real. It actually scare the hell out of me, you just don’t know what’s gonna happen next especially with the economy we are facing right now. This should serve as an Eye Opener to us. Hay life goes on…
Don’t let this wear you down KG!
Have a Fun Sunday!
you are right ate hehehe ako din i rerely watch the news kasi nastress din ako hehehe minsan ngkakataon pa kung kelan ka ngdidiner ganun ung palabas nkakawala ng appetite hehehe! which is good for me dahil kokonti ung kain ko hehe pero nakakainis lang okey naman sana eh to keep abreast with the real world pero minsan wag na lang din hehehe mas okey pa manuod ng spongebob squarepants eh
hay, sinabi mo, kg. seriously so depressing. everything seems to uncertain. but i insist on knowing, kahit na nakakalungkot. better that you’re in the know, versus being caught unprepared. hold on tight for 2009!
Posted by steph at February 1, 2009, 7:21 pmagree rin ako! nkakadepress ung news. Especially sa financial crisis, lay-offs, etc. Hay.. Hopefully next few days mkatanggap nmn tayo ng good news sa reality TV na yan!
Well, goodluck to us! nood nlng tayo muna ng cartoons, dba yeine? hehe..
Posted by purpleworm at February 1, 2009, 11:48 pmhe! he! stressful diba? I try not to catch the news, pero minsan di kaya dahil I'm itching toi know what's happening around me…so in the end manonood na naman.
frustrating lang and disappointing. if they can report on the crimes happening in the smallest of towns, e di they can also report on the good things happening in the smallest of towns.
ako naman, i try to watch and listen to the news as much as possible, so at least i’d know what’s happening around and in some little ways prepare myself. also, i’d like to know whose politicians are performing or stealing. i’d burn them at the stake. haha.
what i do not watch are Maala Mo Kaya-type shows. they’re really depressing. as in.
Posted by mordsith at February 2, 2009, 12:47 pmthis is exactly what i’m doing as well, i don’t watch the news anymore. i watch comedy shows, and i have gotten to a point where i could watch re-runs all the time as long as they make me laugh.
Posted by kayni at February 3, 2009, 12:11 amKami din. Well, partly because we don’t currently have cable TV. Maybe it’s better to read news online. That way, you get to choose which ones you want to know more about.
Posted by Rico at February 3, 2009, 11:42 amako din rico…online na lang para mapili lang ang babasahin… he! he!
Posted by kumarenggrace at February 3, 2009, 2:52 pmAgree! I totally despise our local news, lalo na ang ABS CBN. Tapos sa GMA naman, Mike Enriquez’ voice makes my ears bleed talaga. Garandee and I could never understand why he talks like that.
Our news is sadly similar to FOX news in the US. Branded as “Entertainews” ba yun? It’s usually more gossip and scandal rather than news. This is why I usually watch Al Jazeera na lang. News is balanced, unbiased and walang ka-artehan. I just read inquirer.net for local news.
garando, inquirer.net is also one of my favorite news sites.
The personal loans are important for people, which would like to start their own company. By the way, that is not very hard to receive a bank loan.

That’s the way life goes KG, just like you, I hate the NEWS these days. It’s driving me crazy, it’s always full of negativity, it’s depressing. I would rather watch Cartoon Network, and watch Tom and Jerry! it’s more amusing!
