I’ll spread my wings and I’ll learn how to fly
I’ll do what it takes til’ I touch the sky

It started with us discussing whether we’d join the creative swap. I don’t know how the topics swerved, but somehow, TPS mentioned my being comfortable with the status quo of my life that I don’t want to change it [read: problems with commitment]. I know she was referring to relationships, but somehow, I know that the discussion could refer to life in general. Don’t we sometimes get in to flow of our lives that we get so used to what we have been accustomed to? Have our lives, for some reason, been on autopilot?
And I’ll make a wish. Take a chance,
make a change, and break away
We have so many excuses why we don’t want to change to status quo:
I believe and have realized that refusing to break to status quo hinders our growth. If we are not willing to let change in to our lives, we might as well be zombies walking around. If we are not open to things other than what we are accustomed to, we are actually depriving ourselves of learning and experiencing something new. It is easy to go with the flow, but it is more rewarding to allow ourselves to break away, experience change and something new, and in the process, grow and develop ourselves. Breaking the status quo allows us to explore more horizons and be more well-rounded individuals.
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won’t forget all the ones that I loved
As for me TPS, I’ve done my fair share of “breakaways” in my life [some of which were mistakes, I admit]. Come to think of it, although my days would seem routinary [same old stuff every day], on the contrary, my life in general has been quite an adventure, as is obvious with the crazy stuff I have done [and still do]! I believe that I have gone against that autopilot way of living and take it one day at a time, thinking that each day brings new experiences and surprises! I think that’s the way life should be lived, don’t you think?
I’ll take a risk, Take a chance
Make a change, And break away

Have a happy weekend everyone!
once in our lives, we need to step out from our comfort zone not to burden ourselves but to learn something.
happy weekend!
nicely said kg, i think that most of us do get comfortable with routine, but sometimes, routine gives someone a feeling of trust and of security. it’s nice to break away from time to time, but there is that point in ones life, that routine is life and routine isn’t bad - at all. the point there is - to live your life - be it routine or full of changes - with happiness.

breakaway
do things we thought we never could. Ü
enjoy!!
Posted by kryk at January 16, 2009, 11:09 pmGreat post, KG! I totally agree
I remember when one of my mentors at work asked me:
“Who do you think will succeed the most in both life and career? The person with the most intellect? Or the person who welcomes change?”
Apparently the answer was the latter. Accepting change makes us more versatile and durable to face challenges and overcome them.
Posted by Garando at January 17, 2009, 12:11 amHi KG. This post reminds me of my favorite quote from The Wonder Years: “Life is no so much a straight line as a series of advances and retreats.” Here’s to a new year of moving forward and breakaways.
(I’m glad to be back, and will be stopping by more often!) Happy weekend!
the problem with people is that they are afraid of change yet it is the only thing that has brought progress in their lives. sometimes safe zones are hard to let go but only when we take a free fall do we realize how big wings we can produce out of our backs before we hit a fall. and it’s the most beautiful thing in the world diba?
Posted by PM at January 17, 2009, 9:49 amSusme, you blogged about my pseudoshrinking! :p
As for what I’m referring too, you’re correct that I’m referring to relationships (and relationships alone). As for its applicability to life in general, I’m actually guilty of staying in status quo most of my life (one of the reasons why I don’t want to migrate to the US), pero once in a while, like every 5, 10 years or so, I jump in and surprise myself with a change that, well, takes my breath away! Have faith and just do it!
Semper fidelis!
BTW, have I sent you my bill for our previous pseudoshrinking session?
the only permanent in this world is change!
Posted by jules at January 17, 2009, 1:33 pmI agree with you, KG! Sometimes we just have to breakaway and break rules. We need to step out from our comfort zone once in a while since it’s always good to learn something new. It might not yield the result that we want in the end but what the heck! At least we tried. That’s when we learn.
Routinary? Well it can be boring!
Have a wonderful weekend KG!
Well said.
Life is all about being balance. There is nothing wrong being routinary as as long as breaking away is always welcome in ones life.
Happy weekend Kg.
very uplifting. breakaway, break a leg!
have a blessed weekend grace
Ummm, KG, as for the creative swap… JOIN! Breakaway! Happy weekend KG!

i tagged you kumare, you’re IT!
Great post, KG! Deviations are SOMETIMES fun. We must define our risk appetite first before taking further actions. Have fun!

Posted by ka at January 19, 2009, 3:43 pmyeah, life is too short, so dance as if there’s no tomorrow; love as if your life depends on it; smile, laugh, and be happy, because every minute you waste is a minute you will never get back (hehehe, oo na, text to sa akin).
Nice post KG
ah dami pala nating ganun ang nasa isip- taking risks and breaking the status quo.
maybe because it’s a new year?
sabi nga ni Frances Leflowitz, writer sa body+soul magazine- One of the benefits of risk-taking is simply that it’s fun. Discover new opportunities to awaken your senses and enjoy something for its own pleasurable sake.
