The other night, while we were watching The Holiday (Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black) on HBO in my parent’s bedroom, there came a scene where Jude Law and Cameron Diaz were lying naked (well, Cameron Diaz had a bra on) on the bed, with the blanket covering their bodies only from the waist down.
Suddenly, Princess Wendy asks me: Bakit sila nakahubad?
Gosh!!!! I knew answering that question could lead to THE question. Panic time because I am not ready for THE talk. I AM NOT READY!!! I AM SO NOT READY!!!!! Good thing my sister was able to divert the conversation to something else! Whew! I was off the hook, AGAIN! I’ve been eluding this situation so many times. But I know that this is a serious thing and I have to prepare myself for it [but I know I’d rather deal with cows and cattle supplies , just as the character of Jude Law does]. Maybe in the future.
Postscript: Imagine my surprise because when I opened Chico Garcia’s blog the next day [no exaggeration], his most recent post was “Top Ten Ways to Explain the Birds and the Bees to Kids“. Ha! Ha! You might want to check it out.
Have a great weekend everyone!
I can only imagine, hehe
Lagot ka, malapit lapit na yung time na yun!
I wish I could be there when that time comes, hehe
Ummm, ako kaya, what will I say to my kids when they shoot that question? I must admit: I am way not ready too…
Posted by sheng at November 21, 2008, 10:28 amI read somewhere that when a child is old enough to ask, then he/she is old enough to know—kaya mag-prepare ka na ng mga metaphors mo.
Posted by TPS at November 21, 2008, 10:44 ambuti na lang nandyan si kapatid.
have a great weekend grace!
Posted by jeanny at November 21, 2008, 11:55 amSister to the rescue! That was definitely an uneasy moment.
funny, when I was a kid I thought when two adults would kiss, the woman would automatically become pregnant. I just didn’t know at what age procreation was possible, but I was convinced that kissing was the culprit. So I hated it when my titos and kuya cousins would kiss me on the cheek because I kind of feared that I’d get pregnant.
Yes, I have always been sick in the head, even as a kid
mai…ikaw pala yung character sa mga jokes…
wits and jeanny, thank God for sisters!
TPS, ano bang metaphor ang pwede?
Posted by kumarenggrace at November 21, 2008, 5:31 pmsheng, pareho tayo…di pa ready…I dread that moment!

Posted by kumarenggrace at November 21, 2008, 5:32 pmhaha! that cartoon is funny! i can’t imagine giving the same lecture to my son. i’ll prolly leave hubby to do it for me hehe.
Posted by glenville at November 21, 2008, 9:45 pmthat was the topic on bbc a few weeks ago, because the government wanted to introduce sex education to elementary school. apparently, the UK has a high rate in teenage pregnancies so they wanted to make a change. one of the countries mentioned with the least teenage pregnancies in europe is holland, so i asked my husband how did he learn about it. he told me that when he was 10 and his brother 8, their mom openly talked to them and gave them a book about it. i had to gasp. i told kj if we’d have kids that he has to talk with them about the subject, no way will i ever deal with it. hehehe
Posted by odette at November 21, 2008, 10:55 pmlol…you better be ready the next time she asks. did you like the movie by the way?
Posted by kayni at November 22, 2008, 12:24 am@kg…paano nai-divert ng sis mo yung attention ng bata. i have a niece who is almost 3y/o. please tell me. gusto ko malaman kasi parang radar na kasi ang curiousity ng pamangkin ko.
The Holiday is one of my face movies. I like the scene where Jude Law wiped out his tear in front of Cameron, emotions portrayed seem so pure. Walang lokohan.
glenville and odette, yes, leave it to the hubby!
kayni, yes, I liked the movie. It was so nice! Wish I could do that, i mean switch houses with someone.
spiky, di ko na maala how my sis did that. basta parang she just talked about something else. or, if i remember correctly, she just asked my daughter a question that is so not related as I turned the channel to another station..he! he!
Posted by kumarenggrace at November 22, 2008, 6:43 amgot a tip for you: fake fainting na lang! haha. :p
Posted by mordsith at November 24, 2008, 5:36 pmLOL… I remember AJ asking us What is Honeymoon? (She was watching SHREK 2) We told her that if 2 people are in love they get married and then they go on their honeymoon. Good thing she didn’t ask further than that, if you know what i mean. I wouldn’t know what to answer if ever hahaha….
Posted by jetty at November 25, 2008, 1:00 pmWow…jetty, buti na lang she stopped there. kung hindi baka natameme ka.
I guess we parents should always be ready with our explanations!
Posted by kumarenggrace at November 26, 2008, 8:27 amalam mo ba kanina while i was feeding ize, chiko was crying (because she’s sick - naglalambing). sabi ko, stop crying chiko, i’ll carry you when i’m done with ize. sige i’ll make another baby ‘pag hindi ka tumigil (ayos sa panakot ‘no?). bigla ba naman humirit si kuya, “how do u make a baby ba, mami?”. waaaaaa…
