This note was written by Princess Wendy last Tuesday when she was in another of her how-do-I-earn-money moods–her past ideas ranged from selling some of the family’s stuff like fasteners, staplers, plates, etc, to us, the family (imagine, we were buying our own stuff!!!) to opening a massage parlor to serving food (from our own refrigerator of course). Now, this was the same girl who, just last week, delivered the valedictory speech at her school’s graduation. Who would have guessed that, after all the studying and high grades, her dream would be to clean floors? And to think that her father’s dream for her would be to become a scientist! I guess this was a test of how supportive Paul and I are of whatever Wendy would want to be when she grows up.
Not that I’m disappointed, after all, floor cleaning is a desecnt job! And as parents, we have to support our children…and if Wendy wants to be a floor cleaner, so be it! Anyway, I remember when I was young, my dream was to be a cashier or to be a toll collector! I thought, "Hey, somebody had to do these jobs!" (Actually, the people doing these "menial" jobs are the ones we can’t live without.)
And I don’t mind…I mean Princess Wendy’s dreaming of becoming a floor cleaner does has its advantages! Here we were, saving for her future, and it turns out I don’t need to render OT work! Better yet, I don’t even have to work at all! Wohoo!
